Lil’ Internet Superstar

Added by Dan Gleeson on 4 Apr, 2008 at 10:32am

Here is another little video based post about KnickerPicker - which we always get an extra little kick out of. They seem to like the the site in the same way that teenage boys like their mother’s Kays catalogue though.

Anyway, we like being called an Internet Superstar. In fact, we like anything that panders to our massive egos.

Skimbit

Skimbit

Great (quick) mention of KnickerPicker in The Guardian.  Let us know when you have that £10 million to invest Alicia!

Skimbit looks like a great idea.  Find stuff on the web (for a wedding perhaps), stick it all in one place for your friends to see, let them comment and make a decision.  Nice stuff - we’re sure Skimbit is going to be big.

Lingerie + snow

OK, so lingerie modelling can be a chilly business (just ask some of our models when we schedule a shoot in February) but this catwalk show on a ski track is even chillier still.

Maybe the models received some danger money for frostbite?

Arthur C. Clarke

Added by Dan Gleeson on 19 Mar, 2008 at 1:15am

Just learned that Arthur C. Clarke has just died.  Which sucks.  I’m a big fan of his work.  (2001: A Space Odyssey was an absolute classic and I don’t care if you call me a geek for saying it).

Obviously we rely on increasingly impressive technology for what we do.  And Clarke had a habit of thinking up revolutionary new technology ideas (way - way - ahead of his time) that actually became reality.

OK, maybe this is all getting a bit random now.  Sci-fi legend + interactive lingerie website = weird blog post.

Thanks for the exciting reading material Arthur.  RIP

Reddit

We’ve been found by the Reddit.com community - do they listen to Howard Stern? - and as a result our traffic is shooting up.  We’ve been looking through the comments and my personal favourite is:

“F**k flying cars, this is the future!”

Actually made me spit out my tea.

KnickerPicker takes over the media

Added by Dan Gleeson on 12 Mar, 2008 at 2:33pm

OK, we haven’t exactly taken over the media.  But we have just found out about another mention of KnickerPicker.  This time on the airwaves of Sirius Radio on the Howard Stern show.  We’ve just downloaded a podcast of the show and we’re glad to hear that Howard likes the site.

Next stop Oprah.

Telegraph mention

We just received a new Google Alert (have you started using it yet?) and thought we’d share it with you. Mainly because it mentions us:

Nearly spring

Added by Dan Gleeson on 12 Mar, 2008 at 9:21am

Things are getting busy at KnickerPicker HQ.  We wish that we could tell you about all the things we’re doing to the site. . . . . .but that would ruin the surprise wouldn’t it?

OK, maybe just a little.

We’ve been tinkering a little with the layout.  The feedback so far has been that it is working well as it is.  But we’re always looking to improve things.  Should the “model selection” box really go there?  Can we make that image bigger?  How do you say “come closer” without actually having to say “COME CLOSER”?

We’ve also been speaking to some new brands (as in new to KP, not new to lingerie) about adding their lines to the site - and the response has been incredible.  Look out for a lot of very well known names coming your way soon.

As we’re busy working on KP phase 2, we’d like to quickly mention BeCheeky.com.  Thanks all for being our first merchant partner in this little adventure - and for getting involved when we were just a little demo on a laptop.  Looking forward to more!

Knicker……Picker

Added by Dan Gleeson on 27 Feb, 2008 at 11:04am

I just realised that we never shared this video (from the guys at Playhouse TV) with you. They seem to have a little trouble with the name. (People thought Google was a bit of a weird name at first though didn’t they?)

Our American friends don’t really use the word “knicker” - preferring “panty.” The campaign to convert them starts here.

Anyway, we love it. Check it out here:

Longer way to lingerie

Added by Dan Gleeson on 27 Feb, 2008 at 10:41am

We made the long drive up to Harrogate on Sunday night and paid a visit to the brands at the lingerie exhibition. With a laptop under the arm, we were able to give a quick demo to some of the marketing bods that (somehow) hadn’t seen the site yet - although most had. . . The reaction was largely positive. The upshot being that we have made a big step towards offering even more brands through the site.

Anyway, the event reminded us that trade shows are generally knackering (many hours in the car plus all day on your feet) but that they are also incredibly useful for lining up lots of short meetings in a very short space of time.

Aside from some good chats with the industry pros (including catching up with some of the people we met last year), we also took in the catwalk show (which gave us a great idea for our premium brands - watch this space) and we also had a great conversation with Emma Sabin of Lingerie Buyer. Thanks for the insights Emma.

A big thanks to Margot for letting us use your house and to Sara for organising it. Finding a hotel is an expensive nightmare during the show, so we really appreciate you letting us stay.

Oh, and we also saw Caprice and a presenter from GMTV.
